A PARADE of vintage tractors started off proceedings at the annual Lamerton Tractor Day and Country Fair on Sunday at an event that always gives a taste of country life, past and present.

More than 100 tractors joined the road run through 20 miles of Devonshire countryisde led by Jim Cole. All the trailers were packed with visitors.

There was a great display of international Harvester tractors and Laddie and Angel, the two shire horses, were greatly admired by all.

Francis Mudge and his band of helpers brought to life harvests of past years with his corn binder and threshing box and the fun dog show was a great success.

The day raises money for charities who help local people and this year the Devon Air Ambulance Trust, Bliss, Cystic Fibrosis Trust and St Peter’s Church will benefit. Organisers believe that the event has raised in the region of £3,500.

Thanks were expressed to everyone who helped make the day a success and all the volunteers.
