WEST Devon and Torridge Liberal Democrats were encouraged to ?keep positive? at their annual dinner at Okehampton Rugby Club recently. Prospective parliamentary candidate David Walters gave the advice, saying he was determined to concentrate on positive policies which would help local people, particularly pensioners and the young. Mr Walter paid tribute to John Burnett MP, who is standing down at the forthcoming general election, and to Mr Burnett?s wife Billie. He said Mr Burnett was an MP who had fought hard for everyone, regardless of their politics, a model he intended to follow. Mr Burnett wished Mr Walters luck and thanked his supporters for their work over the years. Guest speaker was Jody Dunn, who came a close second in the Labour stronghold seat of Hartlepool in the by-election last autumn.
