Exeter Chiefs U16s 16 Okehampton U16s 26 Aggregate score: Exeter Chiefs 41 Okehampton 42 CREDIT must go to both sides for a lot of good rugby in these league play-offs and it doesn't get much tighter than 41-42. Chiefs were first to score with a penalty, before Carl Poynton levelled the score. Exeter kicked another penalty and so did Poynton. Nearing half-time, Okehampton got the break they needed when Chiefs tried a quick 22 drop-out, Tom McGratton half charged down the kick, Scott Simpson picked up the loose ball, passed to Richard Friend, who found the gap to get behind the Chiefs' defence and with a good pass put Rob Long in for the first try. In the second half Okehampton continued to have the edge up front, particularly the front five of Scott Simpson, Tom Richards, Michael Panton, Dan Braime and Tom McGratton. From a scrum just outside Chiefs' 22 number eight Stuart Bennie picked up, made good yards, the back row of Will Heard and Luke Crocker cleared the ruck well and quick ball to the blind-side allowed a determined captain Jake Chisholm to crash over to score and Poynton converted. Chiefs kicked another penalty, Poynton countered with a penalty and again after good forward pressure Poynton cut through the Chiefs' line and with a good long pass gave Long the space to beat the full-back to score. Chiefs then hit back with a converted try to make the last few minutes tense, but Rory Honeychurch was excellent in defence all game, and wings Chris Hollands and James Bird both had good games.
