IF you haven't been to Tavistock College recently then I can recommend a Sunday morning stroll along Crowndale Road to take a look at what has been going on there.

Better still, take that walk on a Tuesday evening at around 7pm and you will see the brand new track and field facility in all its glory.

Under the glare of the floodlights you will probably see dozens of Tavistoick Athletic Club members, young and old, doing their thing around the six lanes. It is a sight to behold.

But the purpose of this letter is to offer a very public 'Thank You' to the residents of Tavistock who have put up with my club's members as they have plied their trade around the town in pursuit of fitness and speed. In particular, the residents of Chaucer Road who have had to endure some of our training groups knocking out 400-metre reps at great speed.

Or those in Parkwood Road who have witnessed half-crazed runners punishing themselves as they completed seemingly endless 800-metre circuits. And, what about those who live in Down Road . . . ah, yes. Hill reps. I'm afraid that the track does not come with hills so you may not have seen the last of us there!

Indeed, some of our members still prefer to train by going out on long runs around the town or across the moor and that will still continue.

So, whilst we have not completely gone away, can I still take this opportunity to say a sincere 'Thank You' to everyone for allowing us to run past their doorsteps.
