A SPECIAL millennium reunion is being held at Okehampton Rugby Club this Easter — and the club is appealing for as many players as possible to come and join the fun.
The reunion kicks off on Easter Sunday with tea and coffee at 10am, followed by a match between Okehampton Under 15s and Barnstaple Under 15s.
Max Turner, of Okehampton Rugby Club, said: 'Two guys are coming back from Australia for it, and we've got people from all over the country who will be there.
'The difficult thing is trying to get in touch with people who have left Okehampton.
'I've got an uncle who played, he's young really, he's about 72, but I think there will be older people than that there.'
A celebratory buffet lunch has been organised from 11.30am and in the afternoon the veterans take to the field in a match against a senior club XV.
The socialising between young and older players and ex-players will carry on around 4.30pm.
Mr Turner said Okehampton Rugby Club was founded in 1884 — thousands of players must have fought for the side during it's existence.
'It's going to be a really big social thing,' said Mr Turner.
'We'd like to hear from anyone who has any old photos, tickets or clippings about the club so we can display them on the day,' he added.
Any player who has ever played for Okehampton Rugby Club and who would like to come to the event, or anyone with memorabilia should contact Brenda Campbell on 01837 52540.
Tickets for the event on April 23 cost £5 for adults, £2.50 for children.
