Okehampton Colts 20 Sidmouth Colts 23 THE visitors soaked up 15 minutes of intense pressure in the first quarter and were lucky not to concede a try as Simon Bennett crossed the line but the tackler stripped the ball and Sidmouth were safe. Sidmouth then unleashed an impressive back line scoring two tries from second phase play using their back row to create an overlap. Each side exchanged penalties and Okehampton stole a try as a crossfield kick from Ian Sercombe saw three Okehampton backs pressure the Sidmouth defence and Stewart Down pounced on the loose ball for a try. All the Okehampton squad excelled but Gary Sizmur had an outstanding game both in attack and defence. He took his first try by hitting the line at full pace and powering around his opposite number. His second was pure magic as he chased a high ball, caught it on the bounce, turned his wing inside out and then repeated it on the covering Sidmouth full back. Andy Herrod-Taylor converted giving Okehampton the lead at 20-18 with five minutes left. Sidmouth to their credit did not give up and replied with their scrum half exploiting the blind side scoring an excellent try in the corner. Okehampton tried to rally but time ran out to the relief of the Sidmouth squad.
