Vivid A League U14s Tavistock Girls 3 Activate Rangers 1 TAVISTOCK met a strong side and were on the back foot from the start. Only great defending from Shaw and Glasspoole kept Activate out. Rose and Saunders began to control the midfield. Hammond struggled to get past a strong defence but shots were superbly saved by the Activate keeper. Great passing from Activate had Tavistock battling for every ball. One mistake from defence when both defenders went for the same player left Gordon wide open for a cracking shot to put Tavistock 1-0 down at half time. A swift team talk saw the girls determined not to lose. Turner and Moody made good runs down the wings but when Rose was felled just outside the box her free kick smashed into the roof of the net. With Gordon now released from goal her speed paid off when she chased down a loose ball in the box and nudged it over the line. Activate fought for the equaliser but Shaw and Glasspoole were everywhere. Moody broke through in the dying seconds with a great solo run and shot low into the net. Tavistock Girls U12s 2 Tamarside Girs U12s 5 THIS was always going to be a hard match, with two of the top teams battling it out. The start was disastrous for Tavistock, after the Tamarside strike force caught them napping. There was great defending by Oliver and Basset, and the new signing Brindle. But McCall in goal still had to pull off some good saves. Tavistock had some chances up front ? another new signing Piper came close, as did Case and Hodge. Leech and Longdon pressed Tamarside, but Tavistock could not find the net. Herd came on and was tenacious, hassling the Tamarside midfield. Tavistock did not break through until the second half when Case scored from the spot. This was followed with another goal from Case. Player of the match: Fiona McCall. Manager?s player of the match: Jolene Piper.
