Tavistock Town Council is inviting applications from local charitable and community organisations for grants to help support projects, events, equipment and new initiatives that benefit people living within the parish of Tavistock.
A council spokesman said: “We particularly want to encourage small local charities and community groups, where even a relatively small grant can make a real difference. Supporting local organisations helps support the people and communities of Tavistock.
“Grants of up to £2,500 are available, with a simplified application process for grants of £500 or less. Grants can support start-up costs for new organisations and the purchase of equipment or specific community projects and events.
“The council does not normally provide grants towards an organisation’s routine running costs, and applications from individuals cannot be accepted.”
The deadline for applications is 4pm, Friday 23rd October 2026.
Successful applicants will receive their grants at the Council’s Grants Presentation Evening in April/May 2027, where representatives will be invited to receive their cheques from the town mayor.
All applicants must have a bank account in the name of their organisation. Registered charities will also need to provide their charity number. Additional supporting information is required for applications over £500.
The council aims to consider applications fairly and transparently, with grants awarded according to the available budget and the benefit they will provide to the local community.
Applications from individuals cannot be accepted. Applications from local branches of regional or national organisations will only be considered upon confirmation any grant will support activities in Tavistock, and not passed to the parent organisation.
Organisations based in Tavistock, or national charities with a Tavistock branch can apply by 4pm, Friday, October 23. To apply download the community grants application form on the council website grants page at this link: https://www.tavistock.gov.uk/council-services/grants.
