A TAVISTOCK Air Training Corps squadron was successful in being awarded a badminton sports launch kit by the Devonport Dockyard Sports and Social club. Commanding officer of ATC 2312 Squadron Flight Lieutenant Phil Newcombe said: This additional activity will enhance our cadets' physical abilities, encouraging both future participation in local competitions and in sports achievement success in the Duke of Edinburgh's award. 'We were very fortunate in receiving both a match pitch set up and a training pitch along with 10 rackets and associated support equipment. 'The air cadets is about aviation interests but we place emphasis on team and leadership skills. Sport and adventure training activities allow cadets to benefit gaining additional qualifications through learning and experience. ' l Any young adult aged 13-18 are welcome to join in with the squadron on Tuesday evenings at Crelake Cadet centre off Pixon Lane from 18.40- 21.30 hours.
