LAST year saw yet another busy year for Tavistock Area Support Services transport, providing more trips, supporting more groups and transporting more people to their medical appointments than ever before.

Manager at TASS Andy Lyle said: 'The year started and finished with a trip to the Falmouth Beach Hotel, but during the year we have eaten our way through countless Sunday lunches, enjoyed folk festivals, visited new places and made new friends.

'The hospital car service has made sure people get to their medical appointments on time and has covered thousands of miles. All in all our transport service has helped more people to get out and about.

'We must not forget the role the Anchorage Centre plays in providing day activities, with even more people coming through its doors and how important the nine drop-ins are that meet weekly in village and church halls.'

All the activities and transport are delivered by a core of volunteers who Andy said are the 'unsung heroes of the community', and 2012 will be no different, with new activities and services being introduced and more 'out and about' trips being offered, including the Isles of Scilly, Music of the Night, autumn break in Falmouth and many more.
