MONEY is being raised for a lifesaving community defibrillator in Callington and training sessions held for the public.

A sum of £800 has been donated by Callington Lions towards the equipment which costs in the region of £2,500.

A box containing the defibrillator will be placed at a central spot in Callington and in an emergency people will be asked to call ambulance control to get the access code.

Callington Fire Brigade and the town council are hoping other organisations and groups will contribute to the defibrillator fund.

The fire brigade is also running training courses in conjunction with the British Heart Foundation and HeartStart so people can learn basic live saving skills and become community co-responders.
