I AM writing through you to inform the generous people of Tavistock that I have taken up the challenge of meeting the exacting standards and great work rendered to the Royal British Legion by Sheila Allen.

As many know, Sheila has been the honorary Poppy Appeal organiser for Tavistock for the past 16 to 17 years or so; quite how I am going to fill her shoes, I am unsure but she is still guiding me.

Although she will remain involved, I have the great honour of being asked to be the Poppy Appeal organiser for Tavistock this year. I have copious notes from Sheila but, if anybody wishes to contact me, there is an envelope on the Royal British Legion notice board in the Tavy Club; please feel free to drop a note into it if you want me to get in contact.

I will be reminding people nearer to the date, but, for information, the Poppy Appeal Week this year is from November 5 to 12. I look forward to hearing from many of you soon.
