A PASSPORT with a difference can now be used to gain discounts on admission prices at five major Tamar valley visitor attractions.
'Treasures of the Tamar Valley' is a campaign to publicise the delights of the five attractions: Buckland Abbey, Cotehele, Morwellham Quay, the Garden House and Endsleigh.
Spokesman for the group is Stuart Fraser, commercial manager of the Garden House. He said: 'All our properties have suffered because of foot and mouth and three of them have actually been closed during the crisis. All of us have lost money.
'We decided we should try to do something positive to combat this terrible situation.'
'Treasures of the Tamar' leaflets will be circulated among attractions, to local accommodation and to tourist information centres. The passport leaflets give visitors discounts of up to half price on their second visits to the attractions, the passports being stamped on the first visit.
Alison Sherrell, from the Tamar Valley Service, said: 'This project is important for the area as it will encourage people to stay — and spend — within the valley rather than travelling further afield.'
