PHOTOGRAPHS featuring some of the most beautiful places in the South West can be seen at a free exhibition in Princetown tomorrow.

The exhibition, Another View, has been mounted by the South West Protected Landscapes Forum and aims to raise awareness about the wide-ranging importance of the region?s finest landscapes.

More than a third of the South West comprises protected scenery, including 12 areas of outstanding natural beauty (AONB), two national parks, 60% of England?s Heritage Coast and the Jurassic Coast of Devon and Cornwall, Britain?s first natural World Heritage Site.

The exhibition features images from a collection of more than 6,000 taken during the last year by a team of professional photographers working for the Countryside Agency. It coincides with the AONB?s publication of a statutory management plan setting out future ambitions and needs.

Dave Dixon, SWPLF spokesman, said: ?These plans are exciting, they mean that for the first time, we?ll have well-thought out proposals for the longer-term care of a major chunk of the South West.

?The idea of the exhibition is to tempt visitors to take a visual tour of some of our most beautiful places and hope they pick up on some key points at the same time.?

Mr Dixon said the quality and diversity of South West landscapes are demonstrated by the photographs.

Photographers featured in the exhibition include West Devon-based Chris Chapman and Ted Giffords (Tamar Valley).

Another View can be seen at the High Moorland Visitor Centre until December 1. The centre is open 10am until 5pm daily until October 31. From November 1, closing time is at 4pm.
