A TRIP to Wales for the recent Cardiff Half Marathon was organised by Chris Eastaugh on behalf of Tavistock Athletic Club ? and 12 of its members made the journey for what turned out to be a very successful venture.
Ten completed the half marathon while Allan Herdman and Fiona Dunn went for the big one ? the full marathon.
The run finished in style with a lap of the Millenium Stadium. And Tavistock athletes finished in style with some excellent results and personal best times.
Half marathon results were: 8th, Adam Holland, 1:19:45; 16th, Tony Symons, 1:22:38; 45th, Chris Eastaugh, 1:27:38; 112th, Pete Bazley, 1:31:36; 168th, Rob Kirby, 1:33:57; 281st, Wally Lake, 1:37:20; 370th, Roger Hewitt, 1:40:00; 458th, Andy Smith, 1:42:08; 1180th, Patricia Hewitt, 1:56:37; 2189th, Dan Bates, 2:26:44.
In the full marathon Allan Herdman was 118th in a time of 3:15:01 whilst Fiona Dunn was 144th in 3:18:32. Fiona was third senior lady home a brilliant result in which she knocked some 27 minutes off her previous best time.
Last weekend saw the start of the cross-country season and the Westward League meeting at Redruth. The club put in a large team across both senior and junior age groups and Martin Exley, Cross Country secretary was rightly pleased with the performance of the squad.

Senior Men: 13th, Richard Drage; 15th, Martin Exley; 20th, Adam Holland; 27th, Chris Champion; 31st, Tony Symons; 38th, Chris Eastaugh; 44th, Robin Musgrave; 60th, Pete Bazley; 65th, Mike Lewis.
