FOLLOWING my appeal for information in relation to Whitchurch Down, I have been swamped with calls asking me what the ?Land Swap? is about. This is a proposed swap of land, currently used as a football pitch near the entry gate at Whitchurch village with a useless piece of land near Caseytown Cross. The town council will receive no monies for the swap and after the change in leases, football clubs and, indeed, casual football practice players will have no automatic right of use. I am not permitted to state with whom the swap will take place, but there is no legal reason why it should. If you want to understand why your councillors voted for this swap which will take away a valuable amenity area that is currently owned by you, and will be given away for nothing, please contact your councillors and ask why. Brian A A Trew Town Councillor (South Ward)
