A SURVEY of West Devon residents about leisure and recreational facilities in the borough has brought in more than 1,100 responses. The questionnaire, sent out to a random 2,500 households, asked people about exercise, swimming facilities and open spaces in the council area. Cllr James McInnes, who is leading a team of councillors and officers looking at how West Devon?s leisure pool contract operates, said: ?We are very grateful to those who completed the survey. The information will be extremely useful to us. ?For example, a housing developer in Tavistock has provided a contribution of just over £400,000 towards facilities in the town and this survey will help us understand what facilities people would like to see.? The questionnaire was partly funded by the 5x30 ?Physical Activity for Health? project, which supports the World Health Organisation?s recommendation that everybody should participate in at least 30 minutes of moderate physical activity 5 days a week. The results of the survey will be published in May.
