THE Friends of Abbey Surgery in Tavistock held their seventh annual meeting at the surgery on January 22. Dr Mark Cullen, group president, said 2007 had been a year of consolidating changes with new partners as well as increased participation, with medical students training within the practice. Dr Cullen said he was keen patients should be happy with the practice and feel able to express any worries. The surgery is extending its facilities and more space will be made on the ground floor for chiropody and other services including more counselling. Abbey Surgery patients can now book online with doctors and can also order repeat prescriptions online at http://www.abbeysurgery.co.uk">www.abbeysurgery.co.uk The main event held last year was a barbecue at Beckwell Farm in July, which raised an amazing £520.10 for the Friends of Abbey Surgery. A vote of thanks was given to Mr and Mrs Northey. A physiotherapy bed, cardio-call monitor, pulse oximeter and some tens machines have been purchased for patient use by the Friends in 2007. A coffee morning and car boot sale will be held this summer.
