A TEAM of 18 swimmers from Tavistock Swimming Club competed in the Devon Interclub Gala at Central Park, Plymouth.

Despite being only small in number as a team, all the swimmers produced lots of great results, with top three placings in 12 events.

Kathryn Stacey won the girls open 100m freestyle event, as well as second place in the 15 and under girls 100m freestyle and 100m backstroke events.

In the open events Mike Best was second in the 100m breaststroke, while Gareth Williams was third in the 100m freestyle and in the open medley relay Mike, Gareth, Kathryn and Kirsty Best came third. In the boys 15 and under events, Matt Edwards produced good swims in both the 100m freestyle and 100m butterfly to be placed second and third respectively.

These positions were matched by Cameron McGurk and Kieran Rookes in the boys 13 and under age group. Cameron was second in the 50m butterfly and third in the 50m backstroke, while Kieran achieved second in the 50m breaststroke and third in the 50m freestyle.
