THE sun shone for the Mid Devon Pony Club?s annual mini tetrathlon held last Saturday and Sunday.
A huge entry of 99 members from 14 different branches enjoyed wonderful weather for the two days of competition, in sharp contrast to last year?s torrential rain.
There were 23 teams in the team event and the home side took the honours with the Mid Devon ?Dragons? of Scarlett Geering, Lydia Svensson and Charlotte Rowe maintaining their brilliant form, winning comfortably, while the MD Monsters team of Antony Geering, William Leech, Ralph Mizen with Adam Sandercock of the Lamerton came fifth.
Ellen Bright, Jessica Mortimore, Lucy Almond and Ellie Mizen were the MD Devils team and they finished in eighth place.
There were some fine Mid Devon performances on the first day when the shoot and run phases of the competition were held at East Ash by permission of Mr and Mrs Tom Wells and the swimming at Okehampton Pool.
Jessica Mortimore had the best run in her class, while William Leech competing in his first tetrathlon had best swim in his. Charlotte Rowe also turned in another brilliant swim to take best swim in the ten and under girls.
The cross country course at Buda caused a number of problems this year and there were far fewer clear rounds than usual. However, Charlotte, Scarlett and Lydia all showed their class, riding beautiful clear rounds and Antony Geering finished with just one stop.
The organisers expressed thanks to all their helpers, fence judges and those who sponsored the event.
