Tavistock 8

Okehampton 0

THIS West Devon hockey derby opened with Tavistock making some good strikes into the D.

Sue Cork was the first to take advantage and made an excellent strike at the goalkeeper who could not cover the angle. Susannah Harland scored the second goal, which was well worked up by the forwards.

The score was 2-0 at half time and captain Fiona Dunn urged the team to secure more goals.

Cork worked the ball up and was again able to slip a goal against the goalkeeper. Judy Smallacombe took advantage of a weakened defence and scored her first goal of the match.

Tavistock were hungry for goals in order to increase their goal average. Cork scored the first hat-trick of the match driving through the defence.

Smallacombe scored the next two goals through some excellent crosses made from the midfield of Sue Hornby and Rebecca Hutton.

The last goal came from Kath Collar who had set up so many of the previous ones.
