WITH the cycle time trial season now under way a number of Okehampton Cycling Club members took part in last Sunday's St Austell Wheelers 10 mile time trial.
This took place on the A30 starting at Victoria. A Promising fast outward leg was countered by riders having to battle against a vicious headwind on the return section to the finish.
Finishing times: A Retter 23mins 42secs, M Cory 23.48, Emily Adkin 24.59; M Rice 25.15; Jacky Rice 25.37.
Emily Adkin's efforts were rewarded as she took the fastest female prize and Jacky Rice was third out of a field of ten lady riders.
The previous Easter Sunday had also seen a good turnout of club members for the St Budeaux Cycle Club 15.6 time trial at Kelly Bray. This took place on a cold morning with riders having to endure a fierce localised hailstorm.
Finishing times: A Retter 42.37; M Cory 43.10; T Johnston 48.47; S Perrett 49.30; M Rice 49.51 and Jacky Rice did not finish due to a puncture.
OKCC member Tony Johnston took his age category prize.
