STUDENTS and teachers from three counties will be meeting at Callington Community College next week for a special conference. Organised and led by students at Callington, the Stand Up and Be Heard conference on November 22 has been designed to promote the student voice in schools ? around 150 delegates from Bedfordshire, Devon and Cornwall are expected to attend. During the day, specialist workshops will promote citizenship and student participation and will concentrate on raising the levels of confidence in young people, enabling them to communicate effectively and contribute to their schools and community. In addition to the workshops, Danielle de Bruin from the English Secondary School Association will be guest speaker for the afternoon and will highlight key issues facing young students in the 21st century. Lucy Marks, a Year 11 student at Callington said: ?It is a fantastic opportunity to be involved in organising this conference and to be valued as a student voice.?
