SIXTEEN pupils from the sixth form at Mount House School in Tavistock have so far this year won nineteen scholarships to join the schools of their choice next year. Half the children who have achieved these successes come from West Devon. Mount House Headmaster Jim Massey said: 'I am thrilled — this level of success puts Mount House in the very top bracket of prep schools nationally, and it is all the more pleasing that they are recognising such a range of qualities.'
Freya Semken of Walkhampton has been awarded an academic scholarship to Badminton School near Bristol. Michelle Pearn from Yelverton has won a Barrow all-rounder scholarship to King's College Taunton, where she will be joined by Charlotte Pickard from Gunnislake who has been awarded a major academic and sports scholarship. Guy Prysor-Jones from Chagford has been awarded a choral scholarship to Downside School near Bath, where he will play a leading role in the musical as well as the academic life of the school. Thea Dickinson, whose home is in Whitchurch, has won an academic scholarship, and Hannah Morris from Crapstone an academic exhibition to Blundell's School at Tiverton, where they will be joined by Kate Robbins from Lamerton, who has been awarded a sports scholarship. Barnabie Goldstone from Bere Ferrers and Tavistock's William Steed will both move on to Kelly College in September. Barnabie has won an academic and sports all-round scholarship, and William a sports scholarship.
