The ladies of Okehampton Golf Club have had a fun time this week. On August 18 they played a three ball 'Anchorman' stableford, where each team had to nominate an 'anchorman' whose score had to count on every hole. As there was a two ball at the end of the field all the anchorman cards were put into a draw with one taken out to make up the three ball. This lead to a very close battle with two teams on the same score of 66 points. The winners on countback were Lin Atkinson, Jane Warren and Maureen Willcocks with Lorna Evans and Janice Thwaites joined by Lin who came second.

On August 20 the ladies went to Launceston for their annual away day. The weather was better than forcast and a good time was had by all. The winning team on the day was Penny Deakin, Lorna Evans and Maureen Howe with an excellent 73 points. Sylvie Gowers, Lin Atkinson and this time Maureen Howe drawn to make numbers match, were second with 71 points. Marcia Jones won the best individual score with Lorna McCurrach second on countback with 29 points. Jane Warren won the nearest the pin on the 15th. All the ladies stayed for an enjoyable tea and presentation of the annual shield and prizes at which time the vice captain Jenni Hutchinson announced Tricia Nilsson as her vice captain for 2011.
