Torbay 2

Tavistock Seconds 0

TAVISTOCK men's hockey team, playing their first league match of the season, were hoping to get off to a good start.

With only ten men Tavistock struggled to make an impact on the Torbay goal. Tavistock's teamplay had improved and the new players settled well into their roles.

Tavistock frustrated the home side and with great saves by goal keeper Osborne Torbay went into the interval only one goal ahead.

The second half started well for Tavistock with Cooley and Holden playing well in midfield, distributing the ball to the forwards. But with one player short Tavistock lacked the final push to get the equaliser. Mackintosh almost scored from a strong free hit by Holden and the ball just inched past the wrong side of the post

Torbay finally scored their second, after a run of pressure on the Tavistock goal, captain Glanville kept the defence disciplined and Torbay could not add to their tally.

Tavistock now look forward to the local derby match against Okehampton this Sataurday, 4.30pm at Kelly College.
