AN Okehampton lady is to take on a swimming challenge to raise money for the Devon Air Ambulance and the Mole Avon Ruby Appeal for Hospiscare.

Gillian Curtis will swim 100 lengths of Parklands Leisure Centre's 25 metre pool on Sunday, April 6 to raise money for both charities.

Ten years ago Gillian raised more than £1,500 for Devon Air Ambulance, and she is hopeful of bettering that amount with her latest fundraiser. Members of the team at Mole Avon will join Gillian on the day to lend her their support.

Gillian expressed thanks to Parklands Leisure Centre for giving her free swim time and training, and she expressed special thanks to her swim coach Mike Reynolds.
