TAMAR and Tavy Rowing Club's junior team did themselves proud in the county mixed rowing championships at Saltash.

Many of the club's rowers were away, leaving a mainly U14s team to compete in a 16 and under event, rowing a full adult course.

A superb first round saw them come in second place putting the second fastest time for all the heats. When finished they waited for the last Caradon boat to give a good cheer, even when being close to exhaustion.

All the rowers put in such a lot of effort said cox Bill Stacey-Norris. He said: 'They have far exceeded any expectations in skill stamina and sportsmanship for the club and their crews  with an age range of 10 to 15 in an adult race they were brilliant!'

Rowing stroke Megan Haynes-Parry, 5, Catlin Haynes-Parry, 4, Sam Twine, 3, Charlie Fethney, 2, Miles Eastaugh, 1, Vicky Fethney.

In the final they battled from the start showed no let up with Megan and Catlin keeping perfect time at stroke.  Sam, Miles and Charlie gave loads of power and Vicky turning the boat on the mark.  Although as the race reached the mid way point the older crews pulled clear giving us a  place just out of the medals postions.
