THE generous giving spirit of Christmas was evident at Waitrose last week, as staff presented a cheque to the Devon Air Ambulance
Staff from the store held a raffle at their stall at this year's Okehampton Show. They donated the cheque for £376.10 to Toni Kemeny, a volunteer for the Devon Air Ambulance Trust, last Wednesday.
Marketing assistant Theresa Edwards said: 'We wanted to support the Devon Air Ambulance at the show because it is such a worthy cause.
'Everyone in Devon knows someone or knows of someone who has had to get air lifted, so it's really one close to people's hearts.
'People at the show were very generous, supporting our raffle and the charity, despite the miserable weather first thing. It was great to see.'
Toni Kemeny, a volunteer for the Devon Air Ambulance Trust, said: 'It's wonderful to see people being so generous despite money being tight for people.
'Donations like this help the air ambulance to keep going, so we are extremely grateful to everyone who donated and to Waitrose.'
