SHOPPERS in Tavistock are being challenged to help reach a fundraising milestone of £1-million by buying from the Woodland Trust fashion range found in the town's Dorothy Perkins store.
Money from sales is being donated to the UK's leading woodland conservation charity, the Woodland Trust, which will in turn create many acres of new woodland throughout the UK.
This year if sales at Tavistock's Dorothy Perkins store raise £300, it will take the nationwide fundraising total to £1-million, which is enough to create woodland the size of more than 250 football pitches.
From May 24, 20% of collection's sale price will be donated to the charity. The tops and T-shirts are priced between £18 and £22 and the bracelet costs £11. The clothing items are made from 100% organic cotton – having been grown without the use of pesticides or genetically modified seeds and ripened by the sun in a natural environment.
Ruth Marshall, from the Woodland Trust said: 'I would like to thank Dorothy Perkins shoppers in Tavistock for buying the previous ranges, which has enabled the charity to make much needed strides towards realising our long term vision of doubling native woodland cover in the UK.'
