Okehampton 1st 20
Hayle 1st 6
IN a bruising encounter Okehampton were victorious at home.
The first 20 minutes belonged to Hayle as they retained possession and pressured the line.
One well taken penalty was all they came away with, though, due to excellent defensive work.
Okehampton struck back decisively with their first real period of control, and Bruce Griffiths touched down to lead 5-3.
David Bickle, who had a confident game at half back, took an opportunity from the scrum to drive over close to the post for an easy conversion for Arnie Searle to follow.
At 12-3 the game hung in the balance as Hayle tried everything to break the Okehampton defence, but to no avail.
A further penalty gave Okehampton a comfortable buffer of 15-3.
Hayle responded but again had to settle for a consolation drop goal.
Jamie Hoggins secured the match and the third league win out of three with a winger's try in the left corner.
The celebrations continued when the club took great pride in the return of England international Julian White to officially open the new gym.
The club congratulated him on his success and playing achievements.
