HUNDREDS of walkers from across Devon and Cornwall will be stepping out to show their support for disaster relief charity ShelterBox in April. A sponsored walk in aid of the West Country- based charity takes place at Burrator Reservoir on April 15. The event is being organised on behalf of ShelterBox by David Glover from Tavistock Rotary Club, who is hoping to attract more than 1,000 entrants. Mr Glover said: 'Over the past six years the people of Devon and Cornwall have taken ShelterBox to heart. They've seen the fantastic job the charity has done — since starting work in 2001 ShelterBox has sent aid to nearly 500,000 disaster victims around the world.' Several local bands will be at the event to add to the atmosphere and the ShelterBox Challenge will run alongside the sponsored walk where up to 50 teams will take part in a 30-mile trek across Dartmoor, carrying full shelterboxes and camping out overnight.
