AN Okehampton man is getting set to hit the road on a long distance walk for charity next month. Brian Goode, an enthusiastic walker and member of Okehampton Ramblers, is to undertake the 290-mile trek from Boston in Lincolnshire to Abbotsbury in Dorset to raise money for Macmillan Nurses. Brian, 66, said: ?Last year I walked from Castle Carey to Barnstaple for Macmillan, when I raised over £200. I?ve had three relations who have had cancer, though they haven?t used the Macmillan nurses, and I just felt it was a good thing to raise money for.? Brian had both his legs operated on last month, but still feels confident he will be able to complete the walk. He will be covering between nine and 22 miles a day, and reckons it will take 20 days. Anyone who would like to sponsor Brian can sign a pledge sheet in Sweet Sensations in Okehampton.
