BRIDESTOWE Cricket Club held a car boot sale on Saturday July 5 to raise funds to help the repair of the pavilion roof. In fantastic weather there was a tremendous turnout of buyers and sellers.

Nearly £650 was raised for club funds as well as the day being great fun for all that attended.

Particularly popular attractions were the ?bowl Hatton for a fiver?, competition (with the added practice Phil added another 208 runs to add to the 250 not-out of the previous week!) and the lottery and home-made cake stall.

The refreshments were in the form of a barbecue and cream teas and these were both very successful.

Many thanks to all that attended as both buyers and sellers as well as those that helped to organise and run the day. Notably, it was the younger members of the club that did most of the work; well done!

We would also like to thank the local businesses that sponsored the day with discounted refreshments.

Competition results: Spot the ball, first prize (£10 token kindly donated by Freedom Sports); Brandon Horn), second prize (£5 cash), Robin Pike. The winner of the balloon race will be announced after September 1. Winner of ?bowl Hatton for a fiver?, Gary Sizmur.

We plan to make the Bridestowe Cricket Club car boot sale an annual event so start saving your ?For Sales? now!
