OKEHAMPTON College will be holding an auction of promises on Friday June 8 and is looking for donations of promises to go under the hammer. The college already has many tickets to local attractions to auction, including Crealy and the South Dartmoor Railway — but it is hoping to have a range of unusual lots on offer. 'If you are unsure of what would be suitable, don't worry, anything goes!' said PTFA secretary Cindy Squire. 'For example, a haircut, manicure or pedicure, an offer to cook a meal or bake a cake, a pony ride, a couple of hours gardening or painting or decorating.' If you are able to donate a promise, contact the school reception during working hours or call Cindy on 01837 810969 by Friday May 18. The auction is at 7.30pm in the Octagon Theatre. Bidding will be done on paper, without the pressure of a live auction, and those unable to attend will be able to send in sealed bids.
