Town council officials are optimistic that the number of visitors to Tavistock’s pannier market will improve as the weather improves.

A report to councillors admits footfall has been slow recently, but that there has been a slight increase in numbers leading up to half-term.

It adds: ‘The recent weather has not helped in attracting people to the pannier market, but it is fully expected that as we move towards the spring we will start to witness an increase in visitors.’ Councillors were told there are some  new traders starting at the market, some from the ‘younger generation.’
