DOZENS of young motorists turned out for a special event in West Devon earlier this month, to educate drivers by promoting road safety and responsible driving.

Centre of attraction at the event in Tavistock's Bedford Square was Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service's Mitsubishi Evo super-car, which was demonstrating how to be safe in a vehicle.  The Fire Service also used its modified Volkswagen T5 Transporter to emphasise the importance and consequences of careful driving via road safety DVDs broadcast on a large flat screen TV in the boot of the vehicle.

The partnership event, co-ordinated by West Devon Borough Council's Community Safety Officer, Louisa Wall, was aimed at entertaining families with a whole array of car-related and safety activities. Also attending were Tavistock Police and the Plymouth and District Advanced Motorists Club.
