THE 900th birthday party being held in Tavistock Pannier Market to celebrate the granting of Tavistock?s market charter has received another sponsorship boost. Definitely Devon, a farmers? co-operative from Torrington, has agreed to supply clotted cream free of charge for the cream teas to be provided at the event, which is for senior citizens and elderly disabled people in the town. And pannier market trader Shaun McDermott has generously subsidised the gift of commemorative pens in presentation boxes, which will be given to everyone at the party. Deputy market reeve Mike Souttar said: ?There will also be a huge number of raffle prizes, which have been contributed by the traders. We are getting people coming in every day for tickets ? but there?s still some left, so don?t be afraid to come and see us.? The party, at 3pm on Sunday July 31, is free and includes music, dancing and a slap up tea. Tickets and details are available from Mike Souttar in the pannier market office.
