THE ladies of the Winsford Centre Luncheon Club have been busy with a sponsored knit-in to the tune of £250.

The money is being handed over at the centre in Halwill today (Thursday) to a representative of the North Devon Hospice.

Chairman of the centre, Sandra Willetts, said last year when the ladies became involved in the sponsored knit-in they raised £116 ? but this year they more than doubled that sum.

?They took the forms home and got family and friends to sponsor them. One lady alone has raised £150,? she said.

Mrs Willetts said it was hoped that the presentation would be attended by marathon- running grandmother Judith Anstey from Highampton.

Last year she ran in the London Marathon and raised £1,017 for the Winsford Centre.

As she could not get in that event this year, she is entering the Paris Marathon in April, when she hopes to raise more money and reduce her time.
