A SPECTACULAR success — that was the verdict after the Sticklepath Summer Ball, held recently on Finch Foundry green.

Peter Williams, one of the organisers of the event, said the evening was 'absolutely fabulous'.

Mr Williams said: 'It was beyond all our expectations, there must have been more than 275 people there.

'The band was out of this world, absolutely superb, they got their music exactly right, the food was super, everybody was able to sit down and even the weather was fairly reasonable.'

Mr Williams said the tea dance the following afternoon was also a big success, with a group of visitors from the Cadbury organisation on a day trip from Birmingham swelling the numbers.

He hoped the events would mean a big profit which would be donated to the new Okehampton Hospital appeal fund, but could not yet say how much had been raised.
