THE Devon Ability counts got under way for season 2011-2012 at Cullompton Rangers FC.

The Tavi Specials FC put four teams out to play in this growing football competition run by the Devon FA.

Tavistock Stars won division two last season and were promoted to league one. They played eight matches in a hot sun and found the teams much harder to play with hard fought matches from the Twyford Spartans, Exeter Grecians and Plymouth Argyle.

A 4-0 win against Torquay was a great result in thier first game but Newton Soccability were too strong for Tavistock and thumped them 4-0 with a fine header from Newton's captain.

The team did very well and now look forward in November to the fixture at Plymstock.

New division two side Tavistock Diamonds enjoyed their matches coached by Wayne Downham and came home happy after their day out in the sun.

The ladies side won all four games and lead their league with Anna Jessop scoring a bag full of goals during the afternoon with great support from Steph Muir and Sam Pole.

The new U16s side also had a great start winning two and losing two but all the children really enjoyed the first league games and look forward to becoming a stronger team.

Organiser Allen Lewis said: 'Ability Counts football is really growing now and it is great to see people from all over Devon having such a good day out and meeting such special people who love their football who enjoy competing in a fun atmoshere.'

Race night profits from their a special evening at the Tavy Club have so far raised around £800 with more to come in!

The club was packed and had such a great atmoshere with Sally Perkin once again showing her support for good causes in our area.
