l TAVISTOCK lollipop man Stuart Tremaine, 72, was honoured with a special diploma from Devon County Council in recognition of five years service patrolling outside Drakes Stores.

Stuart, a former special constable, received his award at a presentation ceremony at Westpoint, Exeter.

?It?s a job that?s needed, and I like looking after the children, being a grandfather myself,? he said. ?And being retired, it keeps my mind active.?

Stuart said although the job was very rewarding, there was one drawback: ?Every time I finish, my left hand is aching just from waving to people!?
