A CHARITY ball will be held in Okehampton in September to raise awareness of gynaecological cancer.

On Saturday, September 15 the Conservative Club will host the Sparkle Ball to raise funds for the Eve Appeal Gynaecology Cancer Research Fund.

Organiser Liz Williams said: 'This type of cancer is very rarely discussed but is the second biggest killer after breast cancer.

'Fifty women in the UK will be diagnosed with a gynaecological cancer today, and 20 will die.

'Please help change this statistic and support the Sparkle Ball.'
