A TRACTOR which children have been playing on in Okehampton?s Simmons Park for generations is to be removed for health and safety reasons. The much-loved piece of play equipment has finally had its day, concluded members of the town council?s parks committee on Monday evening. ?In the age of political correctness and health and safety regulations we have got to dispense with the tractor, ? said town clerk Don Bent. ?With all the new play equipment in the park members agreed the tractor should go because of the risks attached to it. ?If a child got their leg stuck and injured themselves, we may be sued and that is a route we cannot afford to go down.? Okehampton Town Council is soon to start phase two of the play area ? a project which in total has cost £156,000.
