OPERA soprano Louise Cannon joins the Ten Tors Orchestra on Saturday November 16 at St Michael?s Church, Great Torrington.
She will sing Mozart?s Exsultate Jubilate and arias from Handel?s dramatic opera ?Alcina?. Louise recently appeared with English Touring opera as Violetta in Verdi?s La Traviata, including performances in Exeter and Truro.
Ten Tors Orchestra Conductor, Simon Ible said: ?Louise Cannon has sung with the orchestra in Tavistock, Kingsbridge and Plymouth but this time it is the turn of North Devon to experience her sumptuous voice. Louise was in Italy in July singing the title role in the Pallavicini (a contemporary of Handel) opera ?Messalina? at this year?s Batignano Festival. Handel?s arias for the character Alcina rate among his most passionate. The aria ?A mia cor? is an emotional tour de force. We know that Louise Cannon will do full credit to this fine music and also Mozart?s triumphant Exsultate Jubilate?.
The programme will also include a second performance of White Haze by BBC TV composer Benjamin Bartlett. This work was commissioned through funds from South West Arts and premiered by the Ten Tors Orchestra in September 2002.
The orchestra will also perform Mozart?s Symphony No 17 and Haydn?s Symphony No 44, ?Trauer?.
