MEETING superstars such as Gwyneth Paltrow, Leonardo di Caprio and Brad Pitt is now all in a day's work for former Tavistock girl Sophie Steggles.

Sophie has landed herself a post at the prestigious Berkley Health Club and Spa in Knightsbridge, London, after completing an honours degree in beauty therapy and management.

Sophie, aged 21, said: 'The club has a very relaxed atmosphere and enjoys making everybody feel at home, celebrity or not.'

After studying for A-levels, Sophie decided to do an HND in Beauty Therapy. But after two years she upgraded her qualification to a BSC with an additional year of study at Bradford College — one of the first students to take the brand new course.

And her decision appears to have paid off in terms of career prospects.

Sophie's father, Tavistock's Dr Brian Steggles, said: 'On the strength of her degree she applied for six jobs in London, was offered three and took the one at the Berkley.

'She's done very well and the Berkley have been superb to her. She's doing this hot stone therapy which is the latest thing, and I think she's now going to be made up to senior therapist.'
