A PACKED programme to appeal to all tastes — that is the forecast by organisers of this year's Tavistock Music and Arts Festival.
The seven-day event is due to take place from April 28 to May 4, at venues throughout the town including The Wharf, Tavistock Parish Church and at Kelly College.
Festival chairman Christopher Kirwin said: 'We've got a really wide range of events happening.
'There's rock, Gilbert and Sullivan, classical music, African drumming, children's choirs, young musicians, solo recitals, an artists' market — there will be lots going on.
'One of the big things this year are the dance events and workshops which are happening on World Dance Day — a tremendous programme has been put together for that, which is new to the festival this year.'
The festival is due to be opened by the mayor of West Devon, Cllr Terry Pearce, on April 28 at The Wharf.
Mr Kirwin said fundraising for this year's festival was going well — a Burns Night supper held at Lydford last month raised a substantial sum alone, and the organisers had excellent help in the form of Robert Oxborough of PCC Supplies, who was in charge of sponsorship for the festival.
'He is doing a tremendous job,' said Mr Kirwin.
Individuals and businesses sponsoring the festival events receive tickets, and discounted advertising in the festival brochure and on the website.
They will also be included in a sponsorship booklet given to everyone attending seated events — it is also hoped to arrange a sponsors' lunch after the festival has finished.
