A FAMILY of four had to evacuate their house in Lydford in the early hours of last Friday morning when smoke billowed through the property. Firefighters were called to the scene at 2.45am where they prevented the blaze from spreading.

It is believed the fire was caused by an electrical fault.The house was badly smoke-damaged, but there was little fire damage and no-one was hurt.

Neighbours stepped in to provide hot drinks and beds for the family.
