BELSTONE welcomed Paignton to Rew Meadow on Sunday with the home team winning a low scoring game by 35 runs.
On a fine, sunny afternoon Belstone won the toss and elected to bat.
After 12 overs the home side were 56/1 with Richard Drake (34) and Wayne Pearce (16) playing well.
However, in the space of four overs Belstone had slumped to 58/5 with Mark Gilmour (5-0-14-3) taking three wickets, all with full tosses.
Simon Tremain (20) and Jonathan Parsons (11) then added 41 for the 6th wicket until both were dismissed in Edmonds? (5-0-16-3) first over. Terry Jeal (26), which included three 6?s, and Chris Walsh (8) added some vital runs for the last wicket before Belstone was dismissed for 140.
Paignton made a steady start in their reply to Belstone?s total against some fine bowling by Jonathan Parsons (7-0-27-3) and Aidan Easterbrook (6-0-19-2).
Parsons was helped by two outstanding catches taken by Drake and Luke Wonnacott to dismiss captain Michael Benton (5) and Andy Kingdom (7).
Belstone?s fielding in general was excellent with Wonnacott taking three good catches and Simon Tremain doing a fine job behind the stumps.
For the visitors, Richard Gilmour (30) and Edmonds (29) played well but received little support from the rest of team. Excellent slow bowling by Jeal (3.4-0-3-3) and Drake (4.1-0-9-2) secured a comfortable win for Belstone as Paignton were dismissed for 105.
This Sunday, Belstone are at home in a friendly against Torquay.
Match starts at 2pm. Supporters welcome.
