AT the recent annual meeting of the Chagford Cricket Club, Del Owen was elected captain to succeed Pete Nolan, who had two successful years in this post.

A fixture list of some 60 matches has been arranged for the new season. This includes matches in the Devon League every Saturday during the season, and friendlies on Sundays and evening games.

There is also a full programme of matches against touring sides from all over the country at Chagford?s delightful ground, which will also be included in a television series produced and directed by David Taylor.

Indoor net practices have been arranged at Okehampton Community College on Sundays throughout March between 4 pm and 6 pm and the next opportunity is Sunday March 9.

Chagford Cricket Club welcomes any new members of varying abilities to fulfil this programme of matches and interested players can just turn up at the nets or contact Mike Wreford, tel 01837 52932, or Bryce Rundle, tel 01647 433581.

A major incentive is the return of West Indian A International cricketer and coach, Prakash Joshi, at present coaching and captain of Natal University.

Officially known as ?Joshi? to all, he was extremely popular with the club last season and his expert coaching will be available to all members from the middle of April.
